LFS WORKSHOP

Choice vs. Default

A 90-minute LFS workshop examining automatic operation, decision, power, and choice.

Format: 90 MinutesDelivery: Live / GroupApproach: Educational + Practical

THE FOCUS

What is automatic—and what role does your consciousness play?

This workshop examines Defaults and the distinction LFS makes between Decision and Choice. Decision establishes direction internally. Choice is exercised externally among available alternatives—and meaningful choice depends upon power.

Default

Identify responses that may occur automatically before fuller conscious examination.

Decision

Examine internal determination and how direction is established within the person.

Power

Ask what capacity, access, agency, or resources are required before a desired external choice exists.

Choice

Examine the alternatives that are actually available and exercisable.

LFS PERSPECTIVE

There is no choice without power.

A person can decide a direction before every desired external option is available. Strategy can then be used to develop the power necessary to expand future choices.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS TAKE AWAY

Recognize Defaults

See where automatic responses may be operating.

Separate Decision From Choice
